Catering to the needs of mattress industry in South India

Mrs Neethu Harirajan, Managing Director at The Sleep Innovations

Q How and when did Sleep Innovations start its journey in India?

Sleep Innovations is one roof where we market raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods to most of the mattress brands in South India. We established our factory in 2021 to cater for all materials for the mattress industry. Consumers’ attitudes have evolved, and their attention is now more on pricing, product utility and comfort than product quality.

Q How is the demand for bed-in-a-box mattresses in India? From which part of the country do you see higher demand for these packed mattresses?

The industry underwent major changes in the 20th century. All pioneer leaders of this industry started marketing online by selling directly to consumers in compact design order to reduce packaging. This is very popular in Tier 1 cities as they are aware of mattress design, young generation couples order online, people living in apartments like to carry it easily to the higher floors, convenient storage etc. If you’re looking for a long-term investment, a mattress in a box is probably not the right choice. But it might be worth considering if you’re looking for a cheap option that will give you a few years of use. It’s the perfect fusion of style, durability, and revolutionary technology.

Q What are the various sustainability measures adopted by Sleep Innovations?

Natural and organic materials like organic cotton, bamboo-derived fabrics, natural latex, and coconut coir are being used as alternatives to synthetic materials in our factory. For all these application methods to be optimal, proper implementation and training is essential. As manufacturers, we provide suitable equipment and training to guarantee the most efficient performing machines and craftsmanship to give you the best in quality and comfort.

Q What is the company’s approach towards ensuring circular journey of mattresses?

By encouraging the reuse, refurbishment, and upcycling of items, we strive to create a sustainable future where resources are valued and continuously repurposed. When we receive returned mattresses- they do not go to waste; instead via robust quality assurance checks and proceed for resale at discounted prices or redistribution to support local communities.
