Q Please tell us about your company and your association with the Indian mattress industry?
Diamond Tools has been associated with the Indian mattress industry for three decades and we have grown with the industry. Our wide range of products is designed to suit the requirements of the growing mattress industry not just in India but also across the world.
Q How has the demand for blades or foam cutting machines increased over the years?
When rubberised coir mattresses dominated the industry, mattress manufacturers used simple vertical cutting machines and the blades were joined by overlapped braze welding. These blades used to break often, thereby, impacting the productivity of mattress manufacturers. We did our best to address this issue, by manufacturing high-quality blades using the world standard of BUTT WELDING and CNC blade manufacturing machines that ensured mattress manufacturers remain highly productive while delivering good quality to their end customers.
Now, the industry is witnessing a higher demand for PU foam and Spring mattresses. Unlike the rubberised coir mattress conversion process, the PU foam conversion requires precision blades. We have blades not just for the vertical cutting machines but also for the Circular cutting machines, Peeling Machines, Long block slitting, Inline side trimming, inline Block cutters, Profile cutting machines and increasing CNC machines, of late.
Q What are your future plans that will aid the growth of Indian mattress industry?
Going ahead, the mattress industry would focus more on comfortable and ergonomically designed mattresses and furniture. This requires new engineered materials and profiles. The future lies with the new range of CNC contour cutting machines and we have invested in equipment that manufactures blades for these machines. We are one of the few in the world and we are ready to offer the precision blades used in CNC cutting machines in India.
Apart from having a world-class manufacturing facility in India, we also manufacture in the UAE. In 2024, we will start manufacturing in Germany and by 2025, we will be manufacturing in the USA. We wish to be a global supplier for the mattress industry.
