Tata Steel Global wires has got a state of the art, fully automated centralized pickling plant for wire rod surface preparation which is very crucial to achieve a smooth drawn wire surface. The presence of uniform layer of protective phosphate coating on wire improves the life of springs and ultimately life of mattresses. Besides meeting basic technical specification for mattress wires, we also endeavor to ensure minimum variation in spring back across the length of wire in a coil for a hassle free coiling experience, with minimum spring-to-spring dimension variations, for precise control over dimensions of mattresses. The stricter process controls at wire drawing including lubrication pick-up, wire temperatures, wire cast & helix etc. ensures that springs made out of our wire are stable in dimensions over a longer duration with negligible sagging.

This regular engagement helps in understanding the stated and latent requirements of customers, which help us in continuously improving our processes and product. Latest example includes development of Dry to touch rust preventive oil coating on wire, which provides sufficient corrosion protection to wires (under extreme weather conditions) as well as minimum smoke and dirt during spring coiling process, providing a safer work environment for operators.
